He could have started navel gazing, thinking, where did I go wrong? He could have blamed the competition and instead create a different product that would not compete in the same arena. He could have gotten out of the people business altogether, maybe occupying himself with personal hobbies such as building new galaxies.
But he didn't do any of that. Instead, he stayed with his vision of the future. And he proactively implemented a business plan that would address the issues and bring ultimate success. It was a plan for restoration based on changed circumstances. He would restore us to himself, and he would restore the earth. So, what were some first steps?
1.) He took the long view. He kept his focus on what the desired outcome would be. No matter what happened, he stayed focused on his ultimate goal.
2.) He got the facts to help make the right decision. He talked directly with Adam and Eve to have clarity. He dealt with present realities. He took specific actions that fit current realities while also moving his plan toward its ultimate goal.
3.) He demonstrated flexibility by removing Adam and Eve from the Garden, placing mankind on a changed path that would still ultimately accomplish God's goal.
4.) He stayed customer focused. Adam and Eve and their progeny were his "customers." They were the ones he wanted to win over. Although they had just betrayed his trust and love, he didn't give up on them and find a more worthy client base. He actually made a greater personal sacrifice later on to bring them back to fellowship with Him.
Extreme circumstances can hit anyone in business. Keeping our focus on our goal and making the right adjustments along the way can help us succeed.
